And more...

Even more Brazil!

Well looky here! Who could that attractive lady be in front of that picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean?

This is a beautifully painted little boat we saw in Parati. Parati is a fishing village mostly, but they have lots of boats that specialize in taking people out to other beaches... but I don't think this was one. This was just a cute boat.

Really nice little cafe where we had our breakfast in Trindade. Everything was carved! Everywhere you looked little faces and creatures peered out. One of the tables (not shown) was even a turtle!

This is Parati again, on our first night when the Carnival parties were still going on. All the little kids were dressed up in costumes, sooo cute!

This is a late night picture of one of the famous churches in Parati. Parati was a colonial town so the streets and buildings are very different from those in Sao Paulo!

More Brazil

Due to recent demand, here are some more lovely Brazilian Pictures...

Okay so... this is a beautiful pool in the ocean... lots of bathers but lots of fishies too and you can rent snorkels for the day!

Same view with Carlos and an unknown male who likely is in to his beer :D

A view of the main beach from up on a cliff. We walked across this cliff to get to the pool above.

Now, it obviously wouldn't be Steffi's blog if I didn't have any birdy pictures, so here's a pic of a nice vulture I got

Brazil

Brazil... sigh...

It's been a month and this is the first I've been able to bear/have had time to write about it. Warm beaches (sometimes HOT beaches), tropical forests, exotic birds, delightful Brazilian guys ;) .... sigh

After being stranded in New York for a day, having to spend the first week back at school playing a perverse game of catch-up, getting a NSERC rejection letter and hearing about another possible rejection, I wondered WHY I ever came back.

Needless to say, the visit was a blast! Spending time in Sao Paulo was a little crazy (we're talking country mouse goes to the BIG city) but amazing! The flight in over the city completely took my breath away, and I took numerous pictures of that vast Urban Jungle (and this is the ONLY place where this term is actually accurate!) if only to prove to people that I wasn't lying!

Carlos took me to pet shops (:D), the out-door reptile habitats at one of the University's institutes, to carnival street parties in small towns and movies and markets.

When we went to the beaches, it was tropical paradise post-cards! Turquoise water, Frigatebirds, Seaturtles, Jungles and earthworms bigger than my hand were some of the amazing treats I got to see! Swimming and hiking by day, sitting on the beach listening to Reggae by night, it was an amazing four days.
