Getting Crabby

Here we have a lovely Ghost crab as seen on the beaches of Virginia on a Red Knot banding expidition.

Meet Sebastian, hermit crab extrodinare. Here he's trying out the nice shell I got for him in Florida... Actually he's tried it out before, but I don't think he's quite satisfied with either shell... he keeps switching. Well, I'll look again this year...
I haven't seen Sebastian in quite a while, I think he's moulting... I hope he's moulting!

And finally we have fiddler crabs! See this manly male! The bright white claw is a signal to lovely ladies that a studly male is nearby. It's also likely a signal to males, since I think fiddler crabs tend to have male-male demonstrations. Some even make little castles for the ladies, if my memory serves me right!
